Dr. Brian Courtney is an interventional cardiologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. His research as a Clinician-Scientist centers around the development and assessment of new medical technologies, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive image guidance technologes for cardiovascular procedures. He initially trained as a Computer Engineer (Waterloo, Stanford) and did his MD training at Stanford University. He is currently the CEO of Conavi Medical Inc, a Toronto-based startup company commercializing catheter-based intravascular and intracardiac imaging systems. He is also the director of the Medventions program, that provides full-time internships, seminars and other activities that foster the development of medical technology innovations. He is a co-inventor on over 15 issued US patents.
