Jeremy Ackerman MD, PhD is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at Emory University and in the joint Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Ackerman received his MD from the University of North Carolina. He also completed his PhD in biomedical engineering at UNC where he explored use of augmented reality to assist laparoscopic surgery and was part of the research team using augmented reality to assist ultrasound guided breast biopsy. Dr. Ackerman completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Stonybrook University and served as chief resident for medical education. Dr. Ackerman has multiple issued patents for medical devices and has been a part of several start-up companies. Dr. Ackerman continues to work with students and faculty alike to solve clinical problems and find relevant applications for developing technologies.
