Prof Kaleab Asrress is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist at Bankstown- Lidcombe Hospital, Sydney, Australia; where he is the Director of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Interventional Cardiologist at Liverpool Hospital, and Clinical Associate Professor at Macquarie University. He also holds academic appointments at the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales. He graduated from Medical School at the University of Oxford in 2003 following a Bachelors degree in Physiology from Cambridge University. He underwent Physician Training at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and sub-specialist training in Coronary and Structural Intervention at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. His PhD was awarded from King’s College London, and supported by competitive grants from the National Institute for Health Research as well as British Heart Foundation, leading to numerous publications and awards including Young Investigator of the Year Award at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He leads a busy clinical program and active research group dedicated to improving patient care and outcomes. He is also passionate about innovation and is CEO of two Australia-based startup companies developing novel cardiovascular devices.
